Pedro J. Gonzalez's "immense popularity made some Los Angeles city officials fearful of Pedro's potential influence among the Mexican and Spanish-speaking population."

The National Archives catalog has 351 million scans. That's less than 3% of the textural records in its holdings. This page shows what record groups have been digitized, and how much. Let's counter the "it's all online" nonsense and #fundNARA. www.archives.gov/findingaid/r...

Most holdings in Presidential Libraries aren't online either - not quite 3% of the 692 million textual pages. Oh yea, did you know NARA is responsible for administration of the Presidential Library System? All under NARA's tiny budget. Call for Congress to #fundNARA.

Correction, from the source itself.
NARA now shows June 2026: 4.739 percent, 2,740,448 scans of an estimated 608,693,075 pages.
The March number was true in March. Archives move.

This knowledge is vital to comply with archival ethics and ensure that NARA follows its own mission and principles. After all, the agency has digitized less than 4% of its total collections, to date. www.archives.gov/findingaid/r... (52/?)

Examples of terms not found in any #findingaid audited? "Trans," "illegals," or "codger." Indicative of the age of the collection? The cataloger? Institutional biases? The #harmfullanguage audit posed almost as many questions as it answered. #reparativedescription
