Here's one of my favourite scene from my yet unfinished #Centaurworld fanfic series about Rider and Horse falling for each other. The emotional climax.

After a moment, a look of resigned acceptance passed over Rider's face and she nodded once, seemingly to herself, before she leaned forward and kissed Horse’s nose, gently, before leaning back. “That’s why I’m a monster Horse, because I love you and because I desire you,” Rider almost whispered as if admitting this was sure to end the whole world, “Because I love you more than a friend, more than a sister. You’re the whole world to me, Horse, and that isn’t right. I want you, desire you more than anything. I feel as if I’m not whole without you, and I hate that.” Rider began crying again, the tears flowed freely down her face in the tracks of those that had come before.“I…I…I’m a…a m…mon…ster Horse, a…and–” Rider was suddenly cut off, as now Horse’s mouth was on hers and kissing her. Rider’s body jerked back slightly at the contact before she all but melted into it, kissing back with hungry desperation, before her arms rose and pushed Horse violently away. “HORSE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? YOU CAN’T DO THAT. IT’S–IT’S–IT’S NOT RIGHT,” Rider yelled, as she wiped her lips with the back of her hand as if trying to dispel the kiss from recent memory. “Rider, it’s alright, it’s okay. I thought there was something wrong with me too, but if you’re feeling everything the same as I am, then it can’t be wrong,” Horse explained with a sort of manic smile on her face, approaching Rider as Rider backed away. “No Horse, it’s not right, it’s wrong!” Rider was now frantic, moving away from Horse as she approached, crouched and on guard. “Rider, how can it be wrong? We both feel it, we both want it. Rider, I love you more than a sister or a friend, I thought I was alone in my feelings but…Rider, there’s no need for us to be apart if you feel the same. I love you, I want you and I desire you, too!” Horse explained as she stopped her approach to Rider, and just stood looking at Rider with all the love and compassion she could muster, hoping that Rider would change her mind.

Makini blinked and she was inside her home, how she got there was a mystery to her, but it felt like it almost hadn’t transpired, that she had simply appeared back inside her home. There was something in her chest struggling with the information that Rani was pregnant. It felt like nothing she had experienced before, deep and dark right where her heart should have been. Of course she knew that Rani would likely become pregnant one day, she was a queen afterall and the role of a queen often involved bearing cubs, and then there was the fact Rani was married to a male she loved, that too also often resulted in pregnancies, plus there was the training Makini had received that revolved around helping other animals give birth, this was usually so the royal mjuzi could help in the delivering of royal cubs and offspring. Makini knew and had known all of this for quite some time, that it was very likely that Rani would one day be pregnant. But that didn’t help with the feeling inside her chest. In fact, the reality that this was always going to happen, that it was a planned inevitability. That Rani would one day experience pregnancy, possibly multiple times. Burned . It hurt, just under her ribs. Right where her heart was supposed to be. It hurt where a deep darkness had taken up residence within her body. And where it hurt it burned Makini. Burned with hate and rage and cruelty. Burned her with feelings she wasn’t supposed to have but did all the same, in that inky black place where her heart was supposed to be. And as Makini looked upon her own home, looked at branches of the Tree of Life that she had made almost eye-watering colourful with the information she had learned, raced after, as she tried to escape from the feelings she had been condemned for. She, for the first time, found them abhorrent. Found it all so disgusting to look at, to bear witness to the fullness of her suppression and confinement.
