I’ve reached the breaking point with our FirstAlert OneLink Safe and Sound smoke detectors. After 4 years, they’ve proven to be unreliable, difficult to manage, and completely unwilling to silence false alarms. 🙃
FirstAlert abandoned them, I think it’s time I did too.

I have the Nest Protect 2 smoke alarms and that's it, and we only have those because the FirstAlert alarms kept going off randomly in the middle of the night. Everything else whines at me when I turn it on about how mean I am I won't let any of it talk to the Internet. Yup. Meanest tech Mommy ever.

Minor annoyances: just installed four new smoke detectors. All #FirstAlert. The mounting plate requires a new screw hole pattern not compatible with either of the two previous same-brand generations we’ve had in this house. Just dumbassery for its own sake. 🤬
