Iconic strong and silent type!
Although I suspect Robby was more fun at parties!

In my forties and still struggling to dress the way I actually feel. Decided to try asking an app for outfit and style ideas to fit my non-binary identity. I actually like them, but feel the app has more social confidence than I do.

🧥 I once had a client who bought a Max Mara coat through a shopper; I told her she shouldn't. She said, "Doesn't every woman's closet need one?" The night it arrived, she messaged me: Freya, can you consign it for me?
📏 She's a civil servant in her forties, about 170cm — an age that actually fit...

I hope you can discover one that fits what you're looking for! 😊

My fursonas grow and change over time, just like I do as I get older. We all recreate ourselves after some time ^^

I've had Ember since sometime in my twenties and some of her doesn't fit as much now that I'm in my forties. :3

From The Archives: How To Remain Fit In Your Forties

Working out in your 20s may have seemed like a natural thing to do, because you were following constant routines day in day out, and you managed to stay organized to the maximum. However, once you get married...

We enjoyed playing football. Must admit though, it’s a lot harder to play in my forties. I’m not fit enough for it. But we had fun, and we had the court to ourselves as we usually do when we go. It’s always quiet there.

My father was on his third marriage by the time he was 32. He fit the fourth one in when he was in his late forties? Something like that.

Housebound MILF in her forties or fifties deciding to revisit her gyaru phase after she finds her old clothes (which haven’t fit her in at least 400 pounds)

It’s a miracle she was able to get a consistent tan on her fat body, not to mention finding neon clothes in her size, but she’s still got it!

a surgical intervention
Gamboling happily into my late forties, i felt like my body was in reasonably good shape, not battered too much by abuses or life, and would continue to support my being fit and active for another couple of decades yet. I was planning for these years lots of big walks in […]

This is the face of why getting fit again in one’s mid-forties is sooooo much harder than doing so in one’s mid-twenties. Who knew?

Look, if Banjo got tubby going from his early to late twenties, got fit due to magic (NO CHANGE in diet or behavior) got a job driving vehicles instead of ever walking and has since gone into his early *forties* his waistline simply must have exploded.

A story of a misunderstood woman whose words would not be taken seriously for 600 years. But we know her true desire now. She was a trans woman who lived and died in despair, and it didn’t have to be that way.

Absolutely! It's insane when you think of it, but when younger fit and feeling immortal the body can expel the toxins almost unnoticed. I smoked dope (in various forms) mixed with tobacco for years with little obvious harm; get into late forties and it starts taking its toll.

"Young lady..? Oh my!"

Melony found herself in a giggle fit that caused tears to form at the corners of her eyes.

"Oh..pardon me. I'm just shocked to be called young. I'm in my forties, dear. However, I could assist you with your request, I think. What sort of ice are you looking for?"

Wet wet wet but was itching to go as work took control last two days, joys of shift work nights! Quick one before kids pick up and sort of just paced quick around the hills, enjoyed the grind 😅!

My prominent older characters tend to be physically fit and have some military or sporting experience. They also tend to do bad things for good reasons. The major exception is a doctor in her forties with a bad leg, but that story hasn't been published yet.

Gather close, #HorrorWritersChat bods, whether you creak, or not. And believe me, many of us creaked in our teens, it's all good.
Age is just one factor.
But it's an interesting one that we do overlook. How many of us actually have older characters in our books, that aren't the wise mentor type?

Behind any good and proper noble, is a condescending servant and father figure, and while Hesidios' role in House Iralkidis may seem strange, Odysseus treasures the man.

Correct. Jews were a persecuted minority under the Arabs, ottomans, and Roman’s. Now they got their own country and the Arabs (Palestinians) have been throwing a shit fit since the forties. Like white southern Americans suddenly seeing freed black people.
