Yup.

It was the flashover into the ticket hall at Kings Cross that caused so much of the death, directly and indirectly.

This made me return to the extraordinary video comparing burn speeds in a room with all natural-materials furnishings versus a petroleum-products room. The petro-room practically explodes in a few minutes, while the natural room slowly slowly burns w/out the black smoke. Thanks, OPEC.

The cause of the fire that left dozens dead at a bar in Switzerland on Thursday is still under investigation. But the explosion reported from the site was likely caused by a flashover, the Swiss authorities said. Here's what to know about the deadly phenomenon.
There Was Probably a Flashover in the Swiss Bar Fire. Here’s What That Means.

📢 Dawdling, confusion meant evacuation took longer than the crucial 'flashover' danger time.

Fire season is back in North America. Does everyone know what "flashover" is?
It's bad.
Time to read Fire Weather, by @johnvaillant.bsky.social, if you haven't already.

There’s 30 minutes before WIP Wednesday ends… and thanks to anon, I’m feeling generous about our future interaction with canon Kijin Sukuna.

He also, at that point, admitted that he had been one of the experts who had been drafted in to help write it. Because of his experience with escalators in the US.

He was one of the guys who worked out how the flashover happened.

He said he could never forget the evidence he had to go through.

eyewitness reports cite some sort of explosion, which could be flashover, but it’s hard to imagine flashover being so fast that they only observed signs of a fire ~10s prior (as some of these reports seem to claim)

During the Black Summer bushfires, volunteer firefighter and visual artist CJ Taylor experienced a flashover—a fire burning over his brigade’s truck. That experience was the spark for a mesmerising and disquieting exhibition that opens in Melbourne today:

50020 ‘Revenge’ stands forlorn in the scrapyard at Booth’s in Rotherham. With many miles under its belt, a no doubt a flashover or two, its time was almost up. A sad goodbye to what was one of my personal favourites.
