oh they do (unsure about the "program" terminology though). it's just that early Mac OS had a flat file system without directories but still had folders. other file systems with directories predate them. "folders" are a GUI abstraction that don't necessarily reflect the underlying file system

Huh, despite the short staffing and chaos at the IRS, I got my refund check in 2 weeks flat including mailing it. Maybe people who file at the last minute will overwhelm the system, I don't know.

The fact that there are tax service companies to file individual taxes means the system is super fucked and rigged against us.
We shouldn't need to pay someone to help pay taxes for non business, private accounts.

Usually, that's not any official serialization system—I just create a flat file with those key/value pairs in it.
Often, I'll stop at that point. If the key/value pairs are working, there's no point in doing anything fancier.

A progress update for my current "idealess" Godot project. I have a somewhat working scene loader, a 3D player controller and third-person camera implemented. I'm using JetBrains Rider for coding as well, though I'm still not sure it's a necessary addition to my workflow.

I would go when I was looking for a solution to a practical need.
My desk is a trestle table set up I improvised from them. I use their little flat file cabinets to hold my oil paints - cheaper than anything you get at art supply stores.

This definitely puts the nail in the coffin for people that thought Light house tracking was going to stay.
I've always said it's a legacy overkill system for VR. The accuracy is not worth all it's trade offs.

With 10s of thousands of Americans having to file bankruptcy and lose everything because of our Anti-Healthcare system, this should be at the top of the presidential agenda! Paid for with a flat tax of 20% for people who earn 2 million dollars a year or more.

This is the current state of the top of my flat file storage. Right now I kind of remember/understand what all the different piles are but I'm probably a couple more additions from breaking the whole system.

In a modern system, the catalogue would be a relational database, not a flat file. With maybe one being flagged to indicate where it is physically shelved. That way a title could appear in as many categories as is relevant.

Have you ever wondered why the United States never went to a flat tax system. It is the same reason they don't like the Direct File program. Too may tax people would go out of business.

God yes. I'm still haunted by the flat file days of having to reindex everything because you had to make room... I cried with joy at moving to sql with a system that had so much room because this was done!
