We see part of the Colosseum in Rome. It's real name is The Flavian Amphitheater, after the dynasty of Emperors who built and upgraded it. We see windows above and gates at the bottom. The numerous small holes in the facade are where marble plates were once fixed. The Colosseum would have been gleaming white when it was in use.

The exterior of The Flavian Amphitheater in Rome, Italy. That's what the Romans called it after the Flavian Dynasty, the family of three successive Emperors who built and modified the building. "The Colosseum" is a much later name from well after the fall of Rome.

🪷 Rome's #FlavianAmphitheater is called the #Colosseum for the 30m tall colossal statue of #Nero as sun deity #SolInvictus, whose birthday is 25th December. Emperor Nero was born 15 Dec 37 AD and saw parallels to the sun god. 🪷
