"Nothing to sea, hear"

a wander on the vast sandy bay at Flookburgh yesterday; not a lot to see really, until you start looking. A vast area of beautiful nothingness; which somehows enhances your listening skills. At some points out on the bay, there literally was nothing.....no sound, just sand!

Not in Wester Ross. Morecambe, Flookburgh and Bardsea, it's still all the rage. The tidal bore hooter is quite the thing at Arnside.

I did think of you yesterday as I came across some stiles on the shoreline. I'll try to remember to post an image tomorrow. Huge skies and ginormous flat sands out at flookburgh. Worth the trip.

......and so we walked; and we walked and then walked some more!

Big skies at Flookburgh

A flookey shot!!

Well... a shot of a corn/maize/barley? field at Flookburgh after a lovely walk along the coastal path and sands.

A completely flat, empty Morecambe Bay with huge skies....and hardly anyone else.

Sorry to be picky, but surely it was the Staveley taproom that Hawkshead closed in 2024 to concentrate brewing on Flookburgh. They moved out of the Hawkshead site years before (I think another brewery took it on).
