Album Of The Day: Colorblind by Robert Randolph & The Family Band

Released 20 years ago on Saturday, this is the 3rd album by the rock group. This album is a non-stop party and a blend of rock, R&B, funk, soul & much more. They do jam on their cover of "Jesus Is Just Alright" with Eric Clapton.
Album Art of Robert Randolph And The Family Band's Colorblind album - On a blue-ish purple background, a large circle of leaves are visible around a circular center, maybe to look like a large flower of golden leaves with a bright light behind them. The middle of the flower has been digitally altered to look like the cone of a speaker though it is still the same golden colors as the flower. There's also stray leaves and debris around the flower, like this is all an explosion. Printed around the speaker cone on the left and right are white lightning bolts, and a line of electricity goes between them into the speaker. Printed above the speaker is a large double-R logo and the band's name in white text, with the album title below the speaker.

Beauty in aging

I’ve been drawn to dying flowers again

There's so much beauty to find in them

Personally, I think they have more interest than blooms in their prime

What do you think? Let me know in the comments

Gladys’s turning point in life. The only day Circe was ever an orphan.

#alolanninetales #ninetales #sandshrew #pokemon #pokemonmysterydungeon #pmd #art #artistsonbsky
A digital painted drawing of Gladys (the Alolan Ninetales) and Circe (the Sandshrew). staring at each other in a distortedly fuzzy home. Gladys is shown with a tear in her eye with a lot of flower shaped jewelry, light blue pearl beads, and a sweater embroidered with flowers. The Sandshrew Circe is shown with just a purple blanket, innocent and thoughtless. The context behind the piece is that Circe’s biological father killed her mother in a fit of rage, and Gladys who was very close friends with her killed him back in a fit of rage. Gladys dedicates the rest of her life to taking care of Circe for her mother’s sake.

Traditional Okinawa dance. The kimonos here are very different than in the main Japanese islands to the north. This performance captures the distinct cultural lineage of Ryūkyū Buyō (classical Okinawan dance), a courtly art form nurtured under the sovereign Ryukyu Kingdom from the 15th thru 19th c
Poised in deliberate, fluid motion upon a sun-dappled courtyard path, a classical Ryukyuan dancer performs Yotsudake, her body draped in a radiant, golden-yellow bingata robe patterned with cascading tropical flora, waves, and cloud scrolls. She wears the iconic hanagasa—a monumental, flower-shaped headpiece constructed with overlapping crimson petals rimmed in brilliant cobalt blue wave motifs, echoing the bloom of a hibiscus or lotus floating over the sea. Unbound by the heavy, constricting obi sashes of mainland Honshu, her kimono flows with uninhibited maritime freedom, its wide sleeves lined in shocking scarlet silk that flashes with every turn of her wrists. In her hands, she clicks small, tassel-adorned bamboo castanets (yotsudake), anchoring her graceful steps in a precise, hypnotic rhythm. The scene radiates a vivid sensory atmosphere: the sharp, metallic-like clack-clack of polished bamboo echoing through warm coastal air, the gentle rustle of starch-finished silk and ramie fibers, the faint, salty tang of a Pacific breeze mingling with garden fragrance, and the dazzling intensity of southern sunlight illuminating saturated, pigment-dyed textile motifs. ormed at the crossroads of East Asian maritime trade routes, Ryukyuan court culture synthesized artistic influences from China, Japan, and Southeast Asia to forge a unique aesthetic identity. The dance Yotsudake was historically showcased during grand state banquets (ukawansen) held at Shuri Castle to entertain visiting Chinese imperial envoys (sapposhi). The dancer’s brilliant yellow robe showcases bingata, Okinawa's premier stencil-dyeing technique where mineral pigments and plant dyes are applied over rice-paste resists; during the Ryukyu Kingdom era, rich yellow grounds were strictly reserved for the royal family and high nobility.

OC-tober in our server! This time we are dressing our OCs up in various themes ✨ Mine are weirdly fast food inspired so far...

#OC-tober #inktober #SonicOC #Sonic #markerart #traditionalart
A full page of 3 OC-tober entries, done in traditional marker art. Day 1: A Food Item - This has been a bit of an inside joke in our server. Naghali (@Konimisii) is wearing a grim reaper outfit with a hawaiian flower necklace and a big french fry hat. Her hair is covering her eyes and she is laughing menacingly while tapping her fingers together. Day 2: Religious - Bob (@TheSunsetSquid) wearing a low-effort devil outfit while sitting at a bar drinking wine. She looks a bit bored, as if she's not liking the halloween party she entered. Day 3: Mascot - Onyx (also from @TheSunsetSquid) in a Ronald McDonald costume. He's imitating a pose of the mascot.
