god the metro tunnels, caves, even some vaults in FO3 are so repetitive I groan when I walk into one and know I'll spend 20 minutes of my life going down tubes

Fallout 3's story is stupid, but it's simple and relatively fast, and knows it's not the main draw of its game. Sad, but more easily compartmentalized away from the enjoyable parts of Fo3. It doesn't think it's deep or interesting.
Fallout 4 wants to be New Vegas so bad it makes it look stupid.

FO3 is a game that is weird cuz I pretty much always have unarmed maxed out by level 3.

Yes. 9 months ago I was on board for Fallout 3 Remakester late Spring w season 3 of the show, then potentially ESVI in the fall. But while the show is still likely May/June of next year we're getting the Fallout 76 Enclave DLC next summer. FO3 likely around the 30th anniversary event now & ESVI '28

The Capital Wasteland is also just so insanely bleak when we step into it at the beginning of FO3. Like these people have barely even begun to rebuild. There's still slave traders walking around freely just grabbing people off the street and shit. It's utterly destitute.

I'm guessing the canonical ending to FO3's The Pitt DLC is the Lone Wanderer destroying the raider hierarchy built by Ashur and freeing the slaves. That's the good karma ending, which tend to be the canon endings for stories in games. Either that, or Bethesda just didn't want to touch it.
