It’s built around a power supply called a “core tap” .. this is an all you can eat buffet of power, pulled directly from the center of the galaxy. The concept of foldspace is scaled up, with a zero width wormhole focused on the exact center. Power is required to contain more power, which also scales up, to a point. Exceeding this point causes a supernova-sized explosion that the solar system wouldn’t survive. It’s theorized in fact super novae are each and every one an industrial accident that involved a core tap. Normally, there’s an omnidirectional antenna of sorts, designed to spread the energy out a set distance from the planets surface. People didn’t know what they were looking at, it turned out pretty easy to pull off. So instead, it’s a unidirectional type, that basically applies a reverse of what generated the power to begin with: focusing energy down to a single point. This is where the alien tech Zach got his paws onto comes in. This is matter that’s hard to focus on, it’s high energy stuff, the ionizing radiation kind. Power can contain power, the rule still stands. It’s capable of making energy out of phase, but it has to be focused on the exact location in space and time that the earth used to be at, the position of the person used to be at, the exact location of their mind. A switch is thrown, and suddenly it’s as if then and there is here and now, just a few feet away, as the machine pulled from then, and put here. There in reality is a copy of someone’s brain that is indistinguishable from the real thing, back then. Any time, the earth used to be at. Anyone, who the machine can focus on. The original intent was to analyze the subjects brain with close enough scrutiny that it could be replicated, in an operative state. This is six hundred years from now, when brains can be transplanted and manipulated. It was supposed to get the location of every neuron and synapse of just that brain, but no ordinary machine could ever perform such an act.

“Dragon Prize was a foldspace type corvette class unit made from joint efforts between Bo-Samsung and Tencent. 95% of it actually existed intra-dimensionally, and those would be all the thick, heavy parts that make warships good at war, with only a skeleton endoframe for what matter that was seen.”
“Propulsion came from a pair of enormous ion drives, which, well.. they existed. But, precisely where wasn’t actually known. Even acquiring the deed to the vessel wasn’t enough to get either Bo-Samsung or Tencent to disclose the location, and most of the ship’s other systems, too. They were all considered black box technology, never needing maintenance, never needing to be refueled. The end user did nothing, while classified and obscure teams labored away to keep things running. Those systems had no ability to be destroyed because of their active reality filtering systems, they would simply stop any damage from getting passed back through to the hardware itself. The folder array would spend its life active, keeping the various pieces of the ship connected to each other. Of course, the ship's living areas could theoretically still be destroyed. Hull and armor could be shed like anything else, you just couldn’t see it. The ship's systems, however, would still live on and eventually be remapped to the next vessel that needed them. It's just set dressing. Science isn't important to the story, it's about a magic prince whose mom is a witch, he tames magic beasts, is clairvoyant, and eventually his son becomes a godlike immortal

If you removed the lasguns and foldspace stuff, it's a fantasy novel without changing fundamentally
