Saint Nicholas rides a large horned creature resembling a goat with elongated limbs and a coarse, dark coat. The rider wears ornate clerical garments, including a tall mitre decorated with fine linework. A long white beard spills over his chest, and he grips a curling staff in one hand while holding the creature’s reins in the other. The beast strides forward with lifted hooves, its expression fierce and alert. Behind them stretches an enormous, inky shadow cast against a pale, textured background. The shadow exaggerates the rider’s silhouette, creating a looming presence that contrasts with the detailed ink and wash rendering of the figures. The style evokes traditional folklore illustration, rich with cross-hatched texture and muted monochrome tones. The overall atmosphere suggests an enigmatic procession—ritualistic, austere, and steeped in winter myth.
