What better way to travel than via giant snail?
This witch, definitely a maximalist! 🐌
A giant snail with a shell covered by a thatched roof. On it, several windows of different shapes and sizes. Different styles of bunting and even a washing line hung between 2 windows. The snail wears some kind of armour and a set of reins hangs from them. There is also a wind chime, a balcony and a weather vane. A very busy looking snail!

I'm taking part in #folktember2026 and the first prompt is 'Forest Sprite'! 🧚

This creature, I named Blēaþe Grīma 🍁

This sprite holds a 7 pointed leaf to her face, eyes poking through. An awkwardly shaped body serpentine in nature with a poofy tipped tail. A skirt made of leaves, a necklace made of seeds and a hagstone pendant in one of her for hands. She has 3 sets of transparent wings. Her eyes slitted like a snake, dark in colour, though her posture lacks confidence. Blēaþe Grīma's story: This variety of forest sprite, no larger than a grapefruit, is very timid, giving her the name 'Timid Mask'. She will muster a lot of courage to emerge out of her hiding place at dusk. Using leaves or shells to hide her face, she believes that this makeshift mask will help make friends with the other fairies, as she's very conscious that her appearance may seem intimidating or ugly. Her accessories are an effort to copy what the other fairies do, in the hopes that she blends in, showing them that she can be just like them. It's rare to see her come out during the day where she might get spooked by the other denizens of the forest. Yet, since she's so inspired by the joyous festivities organised by the fair folk, with their colourful lights and beautiful sounds, she tries her best to combat her timid nature. The hagstone she carries on the end of a cord is what she believes to be the source of her courage. She gives it a comforting squeeze before leaving her shelter, wishing to be just as brave as everyone else.

Prompt 5, 'Naiad'

I've named her Gemynd, it means memory. As pearls of thought drop like wishes into the waters, she keeps them safe until the creator returns for them at the end of their life. So that they may dwell on the life they had, or else, start again.
An aquatic creature with large dark eyes, long thin arms outstretched to catch a falling pearl. 2 tusk like extensions from her face and a trail of spiked fins grace her head and down her back. On her hips, out flows the top part of a jellyfish, from underneath out comes a strong tail, with a hooked barb on the end. In her other hand, she holdholds another barb, fashioned into a mysterious large needle-like tool.

This piece is inspired by Loki and the idea that he is the fire that lights when lightnings hits a tree. 🌳
A long nosed snake facing upwards and coiling downwards. His belly has a basket woven texture inspired by traditional nordic knotwork. He is wreathed in fire. By his mouth, lightning strikes. An oak leaf sits behind the snake as this is the tree most associated with lightning.

This kind of sacred landmark is for those who are grieving. Not just about their lost ones, but for the end of times. Come to the Mourner on the Hill when you wish to be guided through grief; leave a candle, throw a treasured possession into the water, turn away and don't look back.
