I just reread the cover letter in which I insisted that I was a huge fan of the Forbes 500 and he emailed back to tell me it's actually the Forbes 400 and that my fandom was clearly not real. We all ended up in the right place I guess

There are three million American households with net worth above $5 million derived primarily from ownership of privately held companies, and they collectively account for much more wealth than the Forbes 400.
