the thing about having cosplayed for ages is that sometimes I see people struggle with trying to make Worbla do things that it doesn’t do well but Wonderflex or Fosshape do perfectly and it makes me die a bit

you don’t need to make Worbla flex better, you want Wonderflex. Sewable Worbla? Fosshape.

I’ve done it & am doing it (and want to do more after my cancer is treated/gone) so it is possible.

Both of these were done with a consumer-grade sewing machine.

I felt really inspired to work on the wig again today, so I'm approaching the ponytail with a more solidified plan that seems to be working.

This version of the ponytail base is made from scraps of fosshape, an old pair of Capezio tights, fabric scraps, thick craft foam, and a Chicago screw post.
The beginnings of the ponytail base. It's a dome made from part of an old pair of tights with a piece of fosshape serged inside. This is before heating the fosshape. Ponytail base with heat shaping and scraps tucked inside. The shape of the base was refined a little more afterwards. Three layers of craft foam cut into an oval shape and glued together with a Chicago screw post through the middle. Inside of the wig. It shows part of the wig understructure that secured the ponytail to the wig. The structure is made of fosshape and has three strips for even weight distribution.
