First mortgage lifter tomato harvest this summer. My partner would've been so excited to make fresh caprese for us with them.

Today's creative project: finally attempting to make pickles from the Frogpatch cucumber harvest. I helped my partner can stuff several times so I sort of know what I'm doing, & the recipe is fairly easy.

The Frogpatch is reborn! Took me hours of hard labor assembling the beds, lining the walls into the soil with wire mesh, lugging bags of soil. I'm so wiped out my hands are shaking. Still need more soil, & to fix the ceramic frog on the sign, but that's one huge project completed.

Whacked the backyard tonight so I can once again actually see the Frogpatch from the kitchen window. All green growies seem happy, out there doing their thing.

Today I planted stuff in the raised beds (mostly veggies) and in the planting beds around the house (native perennials). Lots to do yet, and these are just the seedlings big & hardy enough to withstand 40 degree nights. Moved more of the babies out to the front porch to harden up.

Stoned & ordering gardeny stuff from Jung Seeds and Pinetree Garden Seeds. Just one tomato varietal from seed this year. Shishito peppers. And a ton of native flowers: echinacea, rudbeckia, sunflowers aplenty. Gonna make the Frogpatch bloom wildly this year for the bees.

Saw my first tooooooaaad of the year! Spent 2 hrs at the Frogpatch & Toadplot (our plots at the community garden) planting more flowers & pulling weeds. This magnificent chonk crawlhopped past me. I set out solar lights to give the toads a dining spot or three.

Repainted the lovely lettering my partner made for our garden sign. He lettered & routed out the original; I've merely given it some fresh paint. I miss his creative skills.

At our Frogpatch & Toadplot. I've seen two lil toads so far and one was chilling in the Toad Café! (I set up flowers & solar lights in one low bed hoping the lights would attract bugs & then toads would eat them.)

First veggie harvest last night from the Frogpatch & Toadplot: large zuke, bigger spaghetti squash. Frog for scale. Also all the sunflowers are blooming! #gardening

This is my beloved, from the summer I was in the hospital, showing off a tall tomato. Some flars he loved. My red currant bush of chaos. We grew veggies & flowers every year. Started most from seed. He loved gardening. I will replant the Frogpatch and Toadplot with a ton of blooms for him.

Spent the evening yoinking weeds to clear the worst section of the Frogpatch. Planted more maters & squashes, corn & flars. Made a dent in the weeds at least.
