I decide to demonstrate Frugality by going with a $45 Columbia valley blend instead.

“Experimenting with frugality” is one of the most evil things I’ve ever read

WSJ tops Page One with its piece about Amazon — “a company that prides itself on frugality” — bidding $40m for Melaina’s doc, “nearly three times the next-closest offer,” after dinner with Bezos.

Tattered Amazon

2022 color pencil drawing of a big strong woman with a tattered and torn bikini. Battle damage? Frugality? Wash day?

"The idea that wealth brings with it the inherent frugality of quality worksmanship"? He couldn't be a more privileged ignoramus if he tried.

Libraries are frugality.

Our insurance costs (home, health and auto) have gone up substantially this year. The increase is equivalent to some people's mortgages. I don't know how people are surviving this. Talking a lifetime of frugality being erased by greed.

weird to pretend the default reader cares more about studio frugality than good emtertainment

Planning this trip to Disney Land and my…uh, let’s use the word “frugality” and not “cheapness”…my frugality is in direct conflict with my FOMO. This is awful.

Now that's what I call frugality

They got it out.

“I order a burrito taxi every day” looks like the height of frugality next to “I go bar hopping a couple nights a week” it’s really shocking how bad bar tabs are now
"zoomers are killing the bar industry" oh interesting was it zoomers who decided a drink should cost seventeen dollars

Journalists out here writing articles like "people are experimenting with frugality, such as renting out their vacation homes for extra spending money"

Thinking about the Spinoff piece about the frugal librarian, I decided the difference between frugality and poverty is personal choice. And frugality is helped by resources like a freezer and sewing machine. But more than anything else, frugality needs both time and experience.

Based on a quick Google, their combined average income would have been around £140-£180k a year. Frugality my arse.

1. After a very manly bubble bath to cleanse my soul, I remembered a story. It's a true story, one about the difference between frugality, and being cheap, and why frugality is a good idea, cheapness is not. This happens in my home state of Louisiana, and I was told the story over thanksgiving meal

Thank you to the people who said "neither" for playing in this space with me. Your frugality and discerning taste in the face of a hypothetical is -- I'll just say it -- sexy.

It reminds of the Articles of Association (1774) (which Lincoln credits in his First Inaugural as "forming" the "Union").
Clause 8: "We will . . . encourage frugality, economy, and industry . . and will discountenance and discourage every species of extravagance and dissipation."
no but this is crazy

I saw a midwest frugality YouTuber with 700k followers talking about fuel prices yesterday and thought 'she is not buying what Donald is selling'.
Trump just mocked the very idea that people are upset about high gas prices due to his Iran fiasco. Being this out-of-touch + deeply unpopular Mideast war + widespread economic anger has distinct echoes of Bush/2006.

On the pod, @stevebenen.com is great on all this:

As Trump’s rhetoric about the Iran War gets worse for the GOP, MS NOW’s Steve Benen explains why Trump’s political implosion increasingly resembles George W. Bush’s in 2006.

There are indeed many taxes on poverty but “paying less for items” isn’t one of them.

There’s something almost… aristocratic about the boots theory, frankly. The idea that wealth brings with it the inherent frugality of quality worksmanship.
