Chapter 3
A Microcosm of Society

Hayley is the one exception. Nine year old Hayley Wilde is Sylvie Wilde’s authentic niece, and she know knows the truth about AuntSylvie and OpenMike. She also knows that she has to keep it to herself. More than any of the other orphans, Hayley looks upon them as her surrogate parents. Her best friend Tommy Reid is not very far behind. Hayley and FullyCharged seem to be inseparable buddies when they’re at home in the Noble Coliseum. Aside from this pseudo family, the only other person who calls FullyCharged by his real name is the primary school teacher Madame Troyes.

The summer holidays, without a daily dose of their best friends at school, Robin and SkippyNightmare, mean that Hayley and FullyCharged are spending more time in the company of AuntSylvie and Mr Rafone. All the youngsters follow the protocol of calling him Mr Rafone, until they finish school.

Hayley - a watercolour painting of a sweet 9 year old orphan girl, she has long brown hair and stunning hazel eyes tinged with a little green - in this relaxed pose she has a calm neutral expression with a hint of a smile - she is wearing a plain white T shirt.

FullyCharged - a watercolour painting of a hyperactive 9 year old orphan boy, he has plenty of golden brown hair on top, which at the sides is neatly under control. His eyes are a deep chestnut colour - uncharacteristically calm in this pose he has a neutral expression with a hint of a smile - he is wearing a white T shirt.

Also, how much of it is tied to the performance of masculinity. I loved Rory Sutherland's comment on a recent Fullycharged interview where it was mentioned 'gas car go vrroom' was a response to the wild success of electric vehicles with women at the turn of the century, can't have that succeeding.
