I was a big fan of Omarchy when I came across in on the Framework forums as I was finding a Linux OS for my FW12, but moved off it after I read some further stuff about DHH and his abhorrent views.

But it now seems that more people, and companies, are ignoring tbis.

Have a read of this long […]

I've enjoyed my Surface Pro 11 so far, but if Framework were to release a pro version of the 12 or a convertible variant of the 13 Pro I would strongly consider switching back.

I had initially wanted a FW12 but apparently the displays aren't very good because it was designed to be inexpensive.

if the fw12 had an arm or riscv board I think I would buy it immediately. unfortunately I think it's going to be a product like the framework chromebook (only having a single generation)

I am gonna disagree with you on that, the value in FW12 is also in it's longevity. Most computers become obosolete mostly because of disk space and RAM, on Neo that's the end for it, on FW12 you would just upgrade it for less than new laptop and extend it's life to twice as much of the Neo.

I nearly bought a FW12 after breaking an iPad screen which are ridiculously overpriced, even through self-service repair. The only reason I didn’t is because I have a batch 1 reservation for the 13 pro and I really want the extra battery life.

I like it in form factors like the pixelbook or fw12 (foldable tablet laptops) but im kinda confused why anyone would want it on a regular laptop

I know about the FW12, but honestly it's so underpowered it's not even remotely funny. My FW13 with an i5-1240P is so bad, not even my mom (casual) enjoyed it.
I know it's a very high order, but I would like to think that I am not the only one who'd greatly benefit from something like that existing

okay, for those who were ootl like me, this is why everyone hates framework now, and imo the hate is justified community.frame.work/t/framework-... with this in mind, any 3rd party suppliers making compatible parts? fuck this shit
Framework supporting far-right racists?
Plenty of brand spanking new accounts here defending the racism too. As a queer computer toucher, who’s had an account here for a few months (I bought a FW12 which I’m now regretting) and tried to hel...

im with you on wanting a good 2 in 1, i'm mad i didn't hold out for an FW12

lmao

it’s a shame the lavender fw12 is literally my favorite color. apple should have made a lavender Neo. we had peak with the iphone 12/13 lavenders and they’ve forsaken us since

not for mobile no but lunar lake would be a massive efficiency boost! I love my lunar lake laptop. fw12 eats through battery.

also not a fw12 in particular i'm not paying $700 for an i3 come on

Wishlist for Framework in 2026:

FW12 with Qualcomm X2 Mainboard (i know, qualcomm evil, please fuck off, the 13th gen i3/i5 options are bad)

FW12 with better display (after the Macbook Neo, we need 100% sRGB on it)

new coolermaster collab cases

Firewire 400 based Expansion Card

Thunderbolt 5

Actually insane how unaffordable Framework laptops have turned now because of AI eating up RAM and NVMe SSDs.

I wanted to compare like-for-like with the MB Neo. Neo is 699€, FW12 with 8GB/500GB is 937€.

1110€ if you want 16GB/1TB.

FW12 review, continued:

Drive now installed. One thing that's actually an improvement on the FW13 that I've noticed having been in and out of the chassis a couple of times now: the input panel isn't attached with a cable and is thus easier to remove and replace.

I installed Fedora's Universal […]

@wishy I was a bit dismayed to find the FW12 actually has a BIOS setting for the clippy button, but it's off by default, and it doesn't come with Windows in any case, so it feels forgivable.

@bodil I find my fw12 very pleasant to use. It's a flexible device and hasn't done anything to annoy me yet. That doesn't seem like a high bar, but the geniuses at dell think it's a good idea to put the power button where the delete key should be, Lenovo can't put a control key in the right […]

Just had a Framework Laptop 12 delivered. Proper review to follow, but one thing to note immediately:

If you're planning to recycle some components from older machines and therefore order the FW12 without said components to save money, check that they fit first. The Framework 12 has one single […]
