3. Anyway, step one is buying a little bespoke “GameBit” screwdriver, because Nintendo can never make shit easy for us. (Had to buy specialty screws for my SNES controllers too.) More to follow for those interested in this kind of retro minutiae. Will update accordingly.

A Gamebit screwdriver ($5) and a reference to what the board should look like and what codes should be on the boards (gbhwdb.gekkio.fi for example) can do it a more reliably
Because Game Boy carts are pretty distinct, and always have the ROM ID & Release year stamped on them
