Just some of my Gamescience Dice (Zocchi Dice).

TIL GameScience was founded in my home state. :D
From Dragon magazine 156, April 1990, Lou Zocchi's Gamescience announces a dice industry first, "a 10-sided die which is numbered by 10's to eliminate once and for all arguments over which die is read first for percentages." www.tumblr.com/oldschoolfrp...

It is called the 'Nostalgia Opaque' set.

Now I just need these in Gamescience style.

when i was a childe, we were very concerned about balanced dice and Gamescience and all that shit. kids these days want entire dioramas of the Annunciation or whatever embedded in their dice even if it makes the dice super imbalanced. sure. it's fine. chaos reigns.

The legendary game designer, distributor, and publisher Louis Zocchi has left us at the age of 91. He founded Zocchi Distribution (the first distributor dedicated exclusively to hobby games) and Gamescience (which made games and polyhedral dice).

Lou may be best known for his dice.

He produced the first high-impact dice, Cliff Polite's elegant d10 (one of the first of its type), and of course the d100. But also the less well-known d16, d5, d24, d3, and d14.

Well, apparently Gamescience has embraced not just AI, but really shitty AI.
Weird how all these failing companies try to save themselves by using AI and just kill themselves faster.

I was lucky enough to talk with Lou a few times while working on Designers & Dragons 2e. His input was vital in putting together the history of Gamescience (and it also revealed a lot about his connections with other publishers).

He definitely was another pioneer of the industry.
We've lost another trailblazer of the hobby games industry: Lou Zocchi. It's hard to imagine what the industry would be without his contributions, and I'm grateful I got to the chance to meet and know him a little over the years. Rest in peace, Colonel.
