Netflix unveiled a special teaser poster for Squid GameSeason 3 on January 1st. The teaser poster features Young Hee, the iconic motion-sensing doll used in the Squid Games, and Cheol Su, a mysterious new character introduced in a surprise post-credits scene at the end of Season 2. Young Hee became a chilling symbol of the show’s brutal games and played a key role in Season 2, signaling the start of another deadly competition. Young Hee and Cheol Su gaze directly at the viewer in the poster, creating a sense of unease and intrigue. Squid Game is known for transforming familiar children’s games into deadly contests. The appearance of Cheol Su, who is often associated with Young Hee in old Korean textbooks, adds another layer of mystery and anticipation to the game. Fans are eager to learn what new games these iconic characters will introduce in Season 3 and how the participants will fare. The release date for Season 3 has not yet been officially announced. However, on January 1, Netflix posted a YouTube Shorts video titled “Squid Game Season 3 Premiering in 2025.“ The video description stated, “Watch it on Netflix on June 27,” leading many to speculate that this could be the official release date. The video has since been set to private. Meanwhile, other rumors about Squid Game Season 3 have taken the internet by storm, including speculation that Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio might make a surprise cameo. However, Netflix has promptly denied these claims. The rumors gained traction after OSEN reported that DiCaprio had filmed a brief cameo for Squid Game Season 3, with all details about his character kept under wraps to avoid spoilers. This secrecy fueled fan excitement, with many suggesting that DiCaprio’s appearance could bring a new dynamic to the series. Netflix wasted no time addressing the rumors. In a statement to Soompi, a representative firmly denied the claims, stating, “The rumors are completely false. There is no truth to reports of Leonardo DiCaprio’s involvement in Squid Game Season 3.” Despite the buzz surrounding the speculation, Netflix has clarified that the rumors are entirely unfounded. According to Netflix’s official Top 10 website, Squid Game Season 2 achieved 68 million views (calculated by dividing total viewing hours by the show’s runtime) just four days after its release on November 26th, securing the No. 1 spot on the global Top 10 chart. Furthermore, Squid Game Season 1 broke the record for the highest single-week views upon its release, becoming the 7th most popular non-English Netflix series of all time. This surpassed the 50.1 million first-week views achieved by the series Wednesday. Season 1 also reached the 3rd spot in the global Top 10 non-English series category, solidifying its immense popularity worldwide.
