Let’s see. Hopefully, this isn’t a sly way of diverting away from a gas export tax. #economics #gasexporttax #policy
Gas tax plans to be enshrined in ALP policy platform
Labor’s national conference next week will ensure a tax on the resource remains on the agenda as part of a broader shift towards wealth redistribution that began at the May budget.

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

What if Australia doesn't want to kill people + planet with more gas, which is what a Norwegian style gas tax does?
#gasexport #gasexports #gasexporttax #auspol
I think there are many misunderstandings about the Norwegian petroleum tax system. (I have not read any of the submissions, so not sure if this is consistent or not with any of them).

The Norwegian system is not to discourage investment, it is the opposite. It is not an environmental measure.

Every week the federal government delays a 25% gas export tax costs the Australian public around $350 million in revenue.

That's $350 million a week that could have gone to funding essential services!
