Happy Birthday to my dearest friend Phil Cox - political activist, campaigner, radio fanatic & the inspiration for my 2019 book. So many laughs & so much fun. I will always do whatever I can to make sure you’re never forgotten.

I've enjoyed doing this!

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers... 20/20 "Spangles, Glam, Gaywaves and Tubes" by @garyjamesactor.bsky.social #20bookchallenge #20books

i beamed the gaywaves at them i fear 😭😭😭 the way the plot was angst too i’m eating so good just by waking up to read their text

I learned radio production there in the 80s (Current Affairs &News). I did Gaywaves whilst at school. I have so many memories (80s). So many people have been through that studio. Shame on Macquarie Uni and UTS! #2SER

Gaywaves was a radio programme that was broadcast on a pirate station during the 1980s.

Huge thanks to Faye for their superb feature yesterday 19th Jan on #gaywaves & the work my dear friend Phil Cox did to make this show happen way back in the early 80s. This is the 1st time any of the archive has been rebroadcast. 🙏🏼

Here's some of the songs I've managed to find from these gay radio play lists! Starting with the Australian Gay Liberation Quire's "Hark the Herald Fairies Shout". As far as I can tell, there isn't a full version online so this will have to do! soundcloud.com/nfsaaustrali...

Yes indeed - he was my best friend & even though he died 33 yrs ago I still miss him. I’ve never laughed with anyone as much as I did with him whilst making the Gaywaves radio progs. Here’s a short extract with a jingle we both loved. Just 3 weeks later I started Working on The Tube! 🤣

Transmitting gaywaves.

ur a being composed of gaywaves

Gaywaves was a literal lifesaver for decades.

Ooooo GayDropping? Airgaying? Sending something on the GayWaves? … we’ll workshop it.
