On Saturday I saw some Red-winged Blackbirds attacking this Great Blue Heron that walked too close to their nest! They would land on its rump and pluck out its feathers, I could hear the ripping noise. The heron did not seem all that bothered by it.

I saw the GBHE this weekend again. Check out that foot. This bird is beautiful and quite friendly. It flushed from here, so I went to see the crane nest that’s tucked away. As I was sitting there in that area, the GBHE flew up to the closest perch near me til I left. What a bird!🪶

The other morning I lucked out & witnessed a GBHE hunting in a shallow wetland. The light was perfect, the still surface capturing reflections nicely. I was approaching just as it grabbed the 1st of 2 fish & it made quick work of them
