first forgotten ones design is geldauran! my fave :)
doing a little "before & after" with these, with some light headcanons because we still don't have that much info on the forgotten ones.

A digital illustration showing two outfit designs for Geldauran, an elf with freckled olive skin, curly black hair and purple eyes. In the left design, they wear a sap green robe with flowing pants, a brown leather collar, belt and shoes, and purple cloak lined with fur and with green and yellow jewels sown in. They wear golden jewellery around their neck, on their forearms, and on their ears. In the right design, they wear a steel set of pointed armour with tattered grey-purple robes thrown over. Their face is partially obscured by their hair, and a three-pointed crown sits atop their brow. They wield two swords with ice-blue spectral blade. Text reads: "Geldauran, of the Forgotten Ones In a remote corner of the Frostback Basin lies Geldauran's Claim, a set of veilfire runes etched onto the wall of a frozen chamber announcing the Forgotten One's contempt for the Evanuris and declaring their isolation from them. This passage is all that is known of Geldauran. Since so little is known about them, when creating this design I lightly relied on some of my own headcanons for Geldauran: mainly that they were a noble in Arlathan who, after some incident or another with the Evanuris, forsook the gods and fled, eventually joining forces with Anaris and Daern'thal. As a noble, Geldauran's outfit is striking and colourful. They wear gold jewellery, and have jewels sown into parts of their robe which mimick a blooming tree. As a Forgotten One, their colour palette has drastically dulled. No longer do they wear their golden jewellery, instead opting for steel armour pieces and a pointed crown. They've reused their cloak, now tattered, darkened, and with the jewels torn off. "Let Andruil's bow crack, let June's fire grow cold." Geldauran's Claim was found in a locked chamber that was unnaturally frozen, showing a potential favour of ice magic. Their crown and parts of their armour resemble ice spikes, and their dual swords summon spectral blades which deal ice damage."

Legit think I really cooked with the plot involving Forgotten Ones, Geldauran and Asmodei (oc), I'm so proud of how layered it is. They could have their own story, it's so extensive. Labyrinths, music/magic, and the desperate search for true, irrevocable freedom that made monsters of them both.

I have an internal job interview tomorrow and I'm spending my evening drumming as much datacenter and cloud services bullshit into my brain instead of writing about Anaris and Geldauran fucking up Solas. My employer will never know my sacrifice.

Geldauran probably 😆 But it absolutely cannot be the Forgotten One we know well, who is always somewhere nearby 😅

just love my brain for being like "Let's write a fic about Solas and Ghilan'nain and how they might have been lovers in the past" and then things go of the hinges, turning it into "Geldauran has a crush on Solas while Mythal bullies him into becoming one of the Evanuris. Ghil is also there."

Ok. So. For my Felassan/Solas/Mythal fic. Solas is currently ~visiting~ Anaris&Geldauran. Do I write the most disgusting, violent non-con shit I can imagine. Or do I keep it closed door/fade to black. I am SO TEMPTED. 😭 i wanted to write a poetic relationship study... smut can be poetic, right? 😭

far superior to you, naturally. Geldauran had quite the taste for mutilation—inflicting pain upon those who would scream the most beautiful songs."

what's your take on the Forbidden Ones vs. the Forgotten Ones? like, they are counted as different factions since DAO (Xebenkeck, Gaxkang et al. vs. Geldauran, Anaris et al.) & their names are very different + their stories as well.
maybe i'm paranoid but i think this was supposed to have a reason?

While working on the second part, let me shout out my #dragonage fanfic diving into Solas' past and nerding out on elvhen lore way too much.
It has politics, rama, romance, complex Mythal-Solas dynamics, a backstory for Geldauran and the Forgotten Ones and more.

There is precious little we know about Fen'Harel, for they say he did not care for our people. Elgar'nan and Mythal created the world as we know it, Andruil taught us the Ways of the Hunter, Sylaise and June gave us fire and crafting, but Fen'Harel kept to himself and plotted the betrayal of all the gods. And after the destruction of Arlathan, when the gods could no longer hear our prayers, it is said that Fen'Harel spent centuries in a far corner of the earth, giggling madly and hugging himself in glee. The legend says that before the fall of Arlathan, the gods we know and revere fought an endless war with others of their kind. There is not a hahren among us who remembers these others: Only in dreams do we hear whispered the names of Geldauran and Daern'thal and Anaris, for they are the Forgotten Ones, the gods of terror and malice, spite and pestilence. In ancient times, only Fen'Harel could walk without fear among both our gods and the Forgotten Ones, for although he is kin to the gods of the People, the Forgotten Ones knew of his the People, the Forgotten Ones knew of his cunning ways, and saw him as one of their own. And that is how Fen'Harel tricked them. Our gods saw him as a brother, and they trusted him when he said that they must keep to the heavens while he arranged a truce. And the Forgotten Ones trusted him also when he said he would arrange for the defeat of our gods, if only the Forgotten Ones would return to the abyss for a time. They trusted Fen'Harel, and they were all of them betrayed. And Fen'Harel sealed them away so they could never again walk among the People.
