Hardy–Weinberg Principle: Genetic Equilibrium, Derivation and Applications
1. Concept and Meaning of the Hardy–Weinberg Principle The Hardy–Weinberg Principle is a fundamental concept in population genetics and evolutionary biology. It explains the relationship between allele frequency and genotype frequency in a population and establishes the mathematical conditions under which genetic equilibrium is maintained. The Hardy–Weinberg Principle demonstrates that allele frequencies remain constant across successive generations when specific evolutionary conditions are satisfied.

Vanderbilt tested 13,000+ KCNQ1 variants at once, turning "uncertain significance" into answers. Cheap beta blockers were already the treatment. The hard part was knowing who needed them. Rare competence.
Massive Genetic Map Pinpoints 1,757 Heart Rhythm Variants Linked to Sudden
An international team led by Vanderbilt Health researchers has created a functional map of 1,757 genetic variants that can trigger long QT syndrome, a potentially fatal inherited heart rhythm

In the past 30 days, Washington recorded 34 herds infected with H5N1, all but one in Yakima County. Per state officials, genetic sequencing for the virus detected in cattle from two Yakima County farms indicates a cow-adapted strain (B3.13) has been circulating in dairy cattle since spring 2024.

Scientists may have underestimated how much genes contribute to Alzheimer's risk
Drawing on genetic data from nearly 2.8 million people, researchers investigated how inherited risk relates to changes in the brain’s immune cells and neurons, and whether existing methods underestimate the genetic contribution to Alzheimer’s disease. Study: Alzheimer’s disease genetics converges on microglial and neuronal dysregulation. Image Credit: Joyisjoyful / Shutterstock In a recent study published in the journal Nature, a large international team of researchers identified genetic risk loci and implicated biological pathways, cellular processes, and potential therapeutic targets for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) across diverse ancestral populations. Background AD is the most prevalent type of dementia in the world, while dementia from all causes is projected to affect 153 million people worldwide by 2050. Twin studies estimate that 60%–80% of AD susceptibility is heritable, but earlier genome-wide association studies (GWAS) had identified about 80 risk loci, and previous estimates based on single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) suggested that common genetic variants accounted for only about 5% of disease liability. Current disease-modifying treatments primarily target amyloid-beta aggregates, but have shown limited effectiveness in relieving symptoms. Further research could clarify genetic risk, cellular changes and biological pathways and identify mechanisms that could inform new treatments and improve risk prediction. About the study The investigators...

Further fucked up when I learned what they cut from the beginning too.

When sex is assigned, it's done by observing secondary sex characteristics. Not by some perfect genetic information.

Biology is the study of the body and biological sex terms are dogwhistles. Biological sex is not recognized terminology by biologists.

We can't concede this language to fascists.
