Defining new territory for Korea’s traditional instrumentation, Dal:um is the Seoul-based duo of Ha Suyean and Hwang Hyeyoung, virtuosos on the gayageum and geomungo types of zither respectively. This Wednesday, 30 September the duo make their Berlin debut at the Kiezsalon finale.

Ha Suyean and Hwang Hweyoung met as members of the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Traditional Music Ensemble. As Dal:um, Suyean plays the 25-string Gayageum, while Hweyoung plays the Geomungo.
Coexistence is their second album, and the musicianship is majestic.

Still thinking about the Colin Stetson / Dal:um gig last night. Both incredible in entirely different ways. You all know Colin, but Dal:um: have a nose at their bandcamp - South Korean trad instruments (gayageum and geomungo) playing more contempory compositions. I have 1 million tech Qs for both.
