And people really, really do not want Giardia. My son got giardiasis when he was a toddler and it was miserable. He shit like a gibbon for a straight month before we figured out what was going on and got him treatment.

Untreated water enthusiasts swear by natural springs, or “raw water.” Many of them are part of the so-called health freedom movement, which opposes vaccine mandates, pasteurized milk and other government public health interventions.

I'd make a "beaver fever" joke a la Bieber fever, but beaver fever is another term for giardiasis, which you really don't want

It's better not to get giardiasis in the first place, and it is very easy to avoid.

There are scattered reports of giardiasis in North America going back to the 1960s, but the parasite becames widespread in the 1980s and was universal by the 1990s.

His family gets giardiasis; I get owned.

Pretty obvious which of us is winning.

It is not false, but well supported by good science. The fact giardiasis varies locally is well known and expected. It is nontheless risky to drink untreated water anywhere.

Giardiasis keeps them slim

*other geologists, who should know better* this water/ice is so clear, it must be great to drink!
*actual hydrologists* breaking out the test kit, the NMR, & the poison kit/giardiasis treatment for the rest of the crew…

Red states are gonna have massive cholera and giardiasis out breaks because of the amount of waste that is going be flooding rivers in farm country.

I am physically ill.
SCOTUS holds that the EPA *cannot* order cities to maintain acceptable water quality standards by limiting the discharge—usually sewage—that they dump into nearby bodies of water (like oceans and bays). The four women justices, dissenting, say that's ridiculous. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

start prepping for horrible events destroying your life. basic things like hypothermia, intoxication, overdose, beriberi, giardiasis, hypovolemia, sucking chest wounds. if the world is on fire then why aren't you seeking more novel ways to die. be an adult
i really like that the “basic things” list is arranged in order of increasing insanity

Like, sex stuff aside, we DO NOT want people eating beavers (the animal).

As a scuba diver I've travelled all over and variously had shigella, salmonella, ascariasis, giardiasis...all kinds of little fellow travellers. This isn't nearly as nasty as those, but I'm not feeling good at all. /Whinge
