theres also the glee with which the home office just seems to take in making peoplea lives hell, at least until trump US immigration (in my experience) was more bureaucratically banality of evil, rather than like gleefully evil
let me say that when we were looking at the US or UK we choose the US in part because the immigration system was *less onerous* which is saying something
