😢 EPF laments the UK government's decision to cut funding to @UNFPA by 85%.

A bigger blow than the #GlobalGag rule, this will result in the unnecessary deaths of tens of 1000s more women & girls during pregnancy & childbirth. #SRHRisEssential #FundUNFPA

🇺🇸US ‘undermining #globalhealth’ by threatening to strip funding from aid projects that do not fit its political agenda

Plan to expand #GlobalGag rule to halt any initiative promoting #diversity, #equity and #inclusion “to include vast swathes of #healthcare”

www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

In the past the #globalgag has led to increased numbers of abortions, many unsafe so also an increase in maternal mortality; increasing unwanted pregnancies due to impact on family planning services, chilling effect on institutions working in this area, and wider impact on global health outcomes.

Unless this funding is replaced, 2.6 million women across the world will lose access to vital sexual and reproductive health services,

This is estimated to result in 2.4 million unintended pregnancies over the course of this administration if the funding is not replaced

Reinstating #GlobalGag in the first week is a clear signal from the second Trump admin and @secrubio.bsky.social's State Department:

They will continue the first Trump admin's attempts to roll back progress on global reproductive health with their destructive, hardline anti-abortion agenda
