On FB I saw pictures of "orbit of planets seen from Earth", oversimplified the ratios of the periods. Worse, Mercury was not even close. So I dusted off an old glowscript program and made it easier to use. Thanks to @wbrianlane.bsky.social for the video on widgets.

Got another exercise set published in #PICUP. The students run through various scenarios to save the Earth from an asteroid, using glowscript coding. Includes momentum, constant force, and energy in the different scenarios.

Regarding the demise of #trinket: A platform called pickcode.io now supports #glowscript / #vpython (in beta testing), looks like it might do some things that trinket does. Video from them: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA0E...

In Thermal Physics, the students said they had trouble visualizing a 3d standing wave--I did show them a 2d wave. We'll see if this helps. Code at www.glowscript.org#/user/burnsk...

GOOD NEWS 🎢: When you import trinket VPython code onto Strivemath, it keeps the same identifier part of the URL. So if a code was previously listed at trinket.io/glowscript/b..., it's now at the same URL but with trinket.strivemath.org/glowscript/ at the front and the same bunchofnumbers at the end.

For #python, I've been trying to use glowscript.org instead of trinket.io. But do you know what's really awesome about trinket? I love that I can write some quick code or calculation and not even save it. In glowscript, you have to save it before you even start coding

Learned a few things about using scene.capture in vpython / glowscript, mainly things not to do--don't make an infinite loop and don't make the browser ask where to put each downloaded frame. If it's asking about each download, in an infinite loop, you can't close the browser tab or window. Argh.
