The reason there aren’t more remnants is that she edits in GoogleDocs. Pasting from Claude into GoogleDocs and then copying and pasting from there eliminates the html remnant. It is honestly shocking that she was caught this way. But she was caught. No one is lying to you about Opal but Opal.

Your spellchecker is fucking up because the Google spellcheck uses AI and also notoriously sucks. You should try using a standalone word processor.

How is it that Google has solved protein folding, and has history's most advanced AI chatbot, but I still can't get in-line audio reads on stuff written in googledocs? I would happily have a 1980s style robot voice, so long as I don't have to install barely functional plugins!

Anybody know how to revert those settings? I don't actually want my current WIP draft to come out with half " and half “ depending on how recently I edited that line :/

Ellipsus is the ONLY Googledocs replacement I can find that has "AI free" as a selling point rather than a concession.
Not "opt-out", not "We hear you", they LEGALLY STATE they don't use Gen AI or LLMs. Plus it's easy to use and feels nice.

Begging other indie authors to use styles when writing their manuscripts, so they have chapters automatically index and paragraphs/dialogue that indent properly.

This. I use Open Office, a really old version, then I send my stuff to someone who... sends me edits back in freaking Googledocs.
This is the rub. I am keeping my current manuscript in ODT format but I had to disable cloud document backups to keep it from being fed to Windows One Drive. I cannot email it without it being scraped and if I ask somebody to look at it they're almost certainly not also running LibreOffice like I am
