I had a great birthday. I spent it with close friends who accompanied me to see AVENGERS ENDGAME ENCORE , then we all went back to the home Bernie & I share, where she had a shrimp scampi dinner & chocolate granache cake waiting for us, along with gifts & birthday wishes. I really have a good life.

Does anyone know much about wine? Why does Shiraz cause me to have a headache while Granache seems to have no effect? Can Sav is harsh too. Is it different grapes?

The big surprise was that the red blend (Merlot/Granache) was the least expensive, and the one we bought an extra bottle of because it was so good.

Depends a bit on the sauce but I'd go with a Pinot or Cote du Rhone or maybe a granache.

lemme check my notes.. a white and red granache (both very drinkable)... a chardonnay and some red that were Fine.. rueda verdejo blanc 2017 and a 2020 tempranillo!!! both of which i enjoyed a lot!! + later a local zinfadel! i am now a little bit more of a red fan

A blousey granache from the Barossa (they only do blousey granache there - please correct me if I'm wrong), is a great paring for gamy red meat. I'm failing to see the funny side because I'm a wanker. Nup, can't think of a better match... perhaps a warm climate Merlot. Or a feck ya up Zinfandel.
