"I've been standing here in this wind for 14 months, you wouldn't care if you looked like your Granny in her Big Coat either"

Photograph of a King Penguin Chick taken at Volunteer Point on the Falkland Islands. One of last year's chicks, the time from hatching to fledging is 14 - 16 months, and this all brown ball of fluff is just beginning to shed its down around its face and on the ends of its wings where moulting always starts. If there is one consistent weather in the Flalklands it's wind! This chick needed his grannycoat! King penguin chick completely covered in fluffy brown downy feathers, it's sideways on to the camera and is standing on the edge of a colony, out of focus, adult penguins in their white, grey, black and orange livery are in the background Canon R5 232mm f6.3 1:1600s ISO 800
