What a lovely awayday in an interesting setting.
Clapton CFC's Women & Non-Binary 1st Team huddle prior to kick-off against Ebbsfleet United, in the background is the Guru Nanak Gurdwara. A couple of charming Tons supporters sneak into the shot. A statue of Pocahontas, at the site of her grave in Gravesend. A classic red telephone box in a quaint village green in Gravesend. A couple of Tons fans look out at Essex across the Thames, from the historic Three Daws pub in Gravesend.

31 Oct 1969, #Bowie performed a short and ill-received set at the General Gordon pub in Gravesend. It lasted only 15 minutes. He began by singing "Space Oddity," which was well-received. He then brought a stool & a book onstage and started reading poems, which resulted in him being booed off stage.

Lived in Gravesend for 40 years. How did I not know about this? The Gravesend Cemetery is much older, but no where near as grand as this (not even a comparison), although it did foster my love for old cemeteries. Have to plan a visit!

On this day 1911 England International (1906) George Edward Burroughs Dobbs now based in Gravesend, announced that he would be available to play for London Irish from November 4th.

George was born in Co. Kilkenny in 1984, his father owned the coal mine in Castlecomer.
He died in WW1.
