My GreatGrandfather and his brothers were sent to prison for refusing to sign a loyalty oath to the State of Georgia after they they sued the Government to establish sovereignty of Indian Nations. Worcester vs the State of Georgia. Andrew Jackson proceeded to send the Cherokee on the Trail of Tears.

My GreatGrandfather used to take me with him to the cattle sales barn/auction house. He’d let me wave his auction paddle! So brave cause I was really little! Lol. He often snatched me up and off we’d go!No one could find me and theyd have to call the auction house🐮😂

*but the horse farm owning peasant greatgrandfather was the richest recorded ancestor because landless gentry is really the median noble throughout Polish history, just like the stereotype of impoverished hidalgo in Iberia that Don Quixote embodies.

My greatgrandfather immigrated from Germany between the World Wars and kept his German citizenship for a while to keep drawing his pension. Like until 1940. I found his last German passport when going through my grandmother's stuff and dropped it.

I don’t know much about him… doesn’t even warrant a mention in the wikipedia page, but his wife was Benjamin Franklin’s aunt so its an interesting nexus…

My greatgrandmother was a Sami as was my greatgrandfather. Her heritage was probably more Swedish than his but both claimed Finland as their birthplace. Someday I will visit.

The younger sister (or daughter) of my greatgrandfather walked 15km, most likely on wooden clogs, with a wheelbarrow, loaded with pancakes, to celebrate the builders classic achievement of reaching the highests point of the roof.
I still think they should make that into an annual contest, bake+walk.
My family, centered in southern Idaho and northern Utah, came across on the Oregon Trail.
Mormons.
I no longer recall the exact details, without asking a cousin or somebody who has the genealogical records, but they used a cart instead of a wagon.
I should probably get a copy of those records.

Mijn overgrootvader (geen miljonair) maakte consequent meer geld over dan gevraagd aan de Belastingdienst, omdat hij vond dat hij genoeg had en meer kon bijdragen. Greatgrandfather proud to pay #trendsetter

Yes I think at one point half of all Jews lived in the Russian empire, though they were never the majority even in the pale of settlement. My greatgrandfather was a Jewish journalist in St. Petersburg at the time and his writings sound familiar about how internal politics drove anti Jewish policies.

"Southern?" I'm sure that is a Relative Term. The Picture is "Southern" Illinois. One of My Great Uncles rebuilt His Barn with Wood from the Gallows in Western Kentucky. Last time My Father saw His Father, My Greatgrandfather put a Shotgun to Raymond's Face and told Him he was leaving town.

Only a couple, thanks to an aunt who went on ancestry (I never did - I was afraid I'd find more relatives). My paternal greatgrandfather wanted to be a vaudeville actor but ended up a banker (so Swiss)! The other (a late 1880s great great uncle) murdered his wife. Best not to know more...🥺

Oh his greatgrandfather was basically a Soviet spy. The House of Hammer documentary was WILD. His entire lineage is rapists, traitors, abusers, and fraudsters.

If there is a greek speaking person here, I don't actually speak greek, the last person who did was my grandfather, and I think my dad used to know, but not much. It's my greatgrandfather and grandmother that came from Lesbos, though I should maybe learn greek sometime

Looks like you're a scot? My paternal greatgrandfather came to America in 1859, age 29. He was a farm laborer in Myklewartle, near Rayne, Aberdeenshire. We have Gunns in our lineage as well.
