Those are all bluebottles, probably the winter-active Calliphora vicina. Abdomen more blue than green & a non-metallic thorax. Greenbottles are a different colour with matching metallic thorax.

True greenbottles (Lucilia spp) tend to be over by this time, but there are later flying lookalikes in the muscid family - the duller green Eudasyphora cyanella is winter active & you may see the 2 species of Neomyia (with metallic green faces) too

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. Though it'd be a funny dragonfly that starved in our yard at the moment - it's full of mozzies and butterflies, despite the rain, and swarms of greenbottles around the fallen apples. Sadly it didn't make it through the night, but hopefully it egged the pond beforehand 🤞

I've had to sprinkle those awful smelly laundry balls into my black bin because the bag off my shopping trolley is in there. And blue/greenbottles have snuck in under the lid, so there'll be maggots soon and I don't even go fishing.

I don't understand how blue(and greenbottles arrive so quickly and enthusiastically once there's a bit of rotting meat to be had. Where do they hang out whilst they're waiting? Anyway, swifts, spiders and toads will have a feast.
