I don't understand the point of this; Gretsch makes great Gretsch guitars. Why make a cheap not-a-les-paul?

Guitar-nerd alert: the Gretsch Jim Dandy is an inexpensive (under $200) parlor-sized guitar. It's an odd but appealing little thing, I think the tailpiece I just added myself (!) makes it sound better, more resonant. Love the way it looks at least!

I think the owner is emulating Eddie Cochran, who put a P-90 in the neck position, but left the stock Filtertron in the bridge of his Gretsch hollow body..

Looks like a Peavey. Active electronics seem like another thing to keep track of. Like the Super Ax Gretsch, which eventually died & many converted to passive pickups.
