+1 for sevens. Games are last about an hour, easier to manage 7 rather than 11 players.

Hellboy RPG definitely moved up the to-be-played queue after a weekend perusal. might offer it for Virtual Grogmeet?

After chatting with a few Strategicon attendees about some noticeable gaps in the venerable con, it’s clear there is a real interest in a smaller, more sociable gathering in the vein of @thegrognardfiles.bsky.social’s Grogmeet here in SoCal.
I think a meeting of the minds will be forthcoming. 🤔

For Free RPG Day, there were biscuits and beverages on offer. Grogmeet usually means Hobnobs and Welsh Cakes. Owlbear promises a wealth of samosas.
There's something to be said for quality snacks. But, as I'm usually fasting (16:8) they generally have to wait until after lunch.

I can't remember who wrote it, might have been John Tynes, but there was a piece all the way back in the 90s/00s about percentile skill systems hindering play.
It asked you and a friend, both unskilled combatants, to each get a marker pen, pretend they're knives and have a go at each other.

In both games, both skill rolls were failed. One push roll failed too .. resulting in the character ripping the paper to pieces in frustration at their incomprehension*.
That was my wake up call.
