Every year the fig tree gets a little bigger, and I scramble harder to use up the figs. This year, fig newtons. I'm calling this one a win. #growingstuff

It's thought that Einkorn has been in cultivation for 10,000 years or more. A scrappy hulled wheat with tiny kernels and difficult to thresh, it's quite low yield though it sustained civilizations for millennia.

If you have left over veg and herb seeds why not just mix them all up and plant in a window box or tin, and harvest when they are sprouts. That way you get a lovely sprout mix to put on salads. This one is fennel, dill, parsley and basil.

A victorious croft day. Finally fired up the 'new' rotavator. Brutal on the steep slopes. Kept getting fangled with brambles & bracken, It kept running away when it was supposed to stop! But the soil is lovely, & all the dead bracken is now mulched in.
