Gunlance is one of my favorite weapons now. I think it even surpassed long sword in number of hunts I've taken it on. Pokey bang go brr.

I've been playing a metric fuck ton of monster hunter wilds recently and it's been pretty fun. learning weapons that aren't greatsword or charge blade has been a good time. gunlance is goofy.

Still pissed rey dau didn't get a gunlance, it would've made perfect sense with the Wyverns Fire attack

My first monster hunter was 4u and I started with switch axe and charge blade (y'know...great starter weapons) and I stuck with it. Wilds really got me into gunlance and SnS. Now I mostly rotate the four as well as regular lance although I've tried all the weapons a little to know what I won't use

I used gunlance in world and it was alright. The stuff added in wilds really made it click for me and now it's my most used weapon

I can't deny the gunlance always makes me feel like I'm doing something I shouldn't be. Shooting a gun....slicing and poking... shielding...giant flashy explosions...its too much its everything at once but I love it so

Kaziv has her gunlance and, well, regular gun, making her 2 as well
Zircon technically has 2 (her axe and sword), but she counts them as 1

gunlance rocks for me because it's pretty much a balancing act between defence and offence, i can be this wall that can block the attacks while the others take advantage of the monster's attention, but i can also hit back hard

No disrespect to the older games, but it always felt like the devs were never sure what blocking was supposed to do beyond reducing/preventing damage.
I became more aware of this when the gunlance was released.

Me and my coworker are constantly saying this. Rise was my first and the fact that gunlance can fly in that one instantly made it my game of the year

I didn’t really try gunlance until MH:Rise on switch and I gotta say I miss the mobility it had in that game but I still love my boomstick

Im also a gunlance and glaive fan. Despite those being my favorites, im just naturally better at lance. Nothing gets past me when i got the big poker.

Oh gosh, I rotate between a few. My go-to weapon when things are tough is sword and shield because I value mobility and defense in harder hunts. If I’m using sword and shield I’m usually running wide range as well so I’m kind of a healer. I also love insect glaive and gunlance.

Honestly I play everything but gunlance charge blade and dual blades are my favorites

Gunlance is eaaaasy : just make sure you got your shells are loaded, or either do the slam combo (Gunlance Slam into full discharge, reload, repeat), or the extended spike combo!
And watch all the monster parts break off

The last time I played GU, I tried a shell-only Valor Gunlance build. It was very fun! Slightly underpowered though lol. Probably would be a nightmare for other players online.
I'll round back to playing it and World again at some point until Wilds + Ascendance is done and on sale.
