In this review, we compare the evidence for perceptual penetrability across the senses-that is, to what extent cognition shapes experience as opposed to biasing it. High in olfaction, low in gustation is my take home :)

My favorite neuroanatomy topic to teach is chemosensation - olfaction, gustation, chemesthesis. At our One Health-oriented medical school, I get to talk about mammalian olfactory genetics and the evolutionary ecology of hot peppers. Also, I bring lab to the classroom!

i've never been much of a coffee drinker, being somewhat pythagorean in my approach to beans, so i can't say i share the same personal involvement in the gustation above described
but the general tenor of the thing is familiar; i should think developing such particularities will pay off post-foom

personal favorite of mine that i think about often is mixmaster having extremely sensitive olfactory/gustation sensors that let him basically take a whiff or taste of something and get a pretty damn specific chemical profile for a material
