Ynysyfro WeBS: not much in the way of waterbirds but Red Kite flopping about and 2 male Red-veined Darter at Fourteen Locks on the walk over. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera, fortunately, one showed down to doughnut distance. #gwentbirding #lowcarbonbirding #gwentdragonflies

A *very* late WeBS at Ynysyfro produced little in the way of birds but some invert interest with Lesser Emperor scoffing a Meadow Brown, 2 Clouded Yellow and a female Chrysotoxum festivum. #gwentbirding #gwentdragonflies #gwentflutterbies #gwentsyrphing

I’m watching a male Southern Hawker & a male Common Hawker in territorial squabbles over a pond at Cleddon Bog. This is the only known site in the eastern half of Monmouthshire/Gwent for Common Hawker. Thanks to Barbara Heys for re-finding after an 8-year gap #gwentdragonflies

I spent some time this afternoon at an excellent dragonfly site near Ebbw Vale. It’s a pond called The Cardi, and it’s not far from Waun-y-pound but I think it’s an even better site.
