In Frankfurt though, it's a bit "Longshanks monument in Gwynnedd". (The problem is the annexation by Prussia, not the federal Kaiserreich.)
The argument for tearing it down was the colonialism though.

#worcsbirds #walesbirds #gwynnedd I’m visiting North Wales in a couple of days. I’m considering either Traeth Gaslyn near Porthmadog or Llyn Celanedd AKA the Spinnies near Bangor. Does anyone have experience or suggestions?

Heh. First time I’d encountered Gwynnedd as a term was Katherine Kurtz’s Deryni books back in the 80s. Will check your book out asap!

#Griffith-ap-Gwynnedd that was on her and my father's Wedding Certificate from the State Registry, when I had to deal with her estate over a decade ago. She always told me about the family's 'Breton-Welsh' roots but never more than that - why is irrelevant now.
