“Social Networks and Cooperation in Hunter-Gatherers,” Nature 2012. www.nature.com/articles/nat...

We show that the social networks formed by Hadza hunter-gathers have similar structure and, when it comes to cooperation, function, as those of people living in less ancient circumstances.

"Study focused on the Hadza people in northern Tanzania, who live and sleep in groups of 20 to 30 (show that) ... over a 3-week period, there were only 18 minutes when all 33 tribe members were asleep simultaneously"

But:

"They reunite in the evening, typically sleeping all together"
Restless development: bad sleep may be evolutionary survival tool, study finds
Research into sleeping patterns of Tanzanian hunter-gatherers sheds new light on phenomenon often attributed to smartphones and modern-day lifestyles

This remnant could associate also to boy's first kill, totally possible. But it's a distinctive symbolic complex.

Hadza people share plenty of it too.

Happy hunting tonight!

It's perfect timing for Hadza hunters to lie low by dry-season waterholes, waiting for the game to come and drink. Fewer lions at full moon!

A lovely Hadza example, olanakwete (m) or olanakwiko (f), made from a special termite earth, baked with blood and ash, then decorated. The dolls are made for young women who have not yet had a child, given the name of an appropriate relative, and would be treated as if a child itself.

Genomic evidence that strains shared betweenthe Tsimane and Hadza trace back to human migration out of Africa. But these evolutionary partners are vanishing in industrialized societies. What does this mean for our health?
