One thing I wasn’t prepared for when I decided to start collecting #physicalmedia again was the wave of sheer nostalgia that would hit at opening a jewel case & seeing the cd & booklet art smiling up at me. It’s like reuniting with an old friend. 😭

CD & booklet #art for Matthew Good Band’s Raygun EP. MGB was a Vancouver-based indie rock band that broke in the mid-nineties and broke up in 2001. #MatthewGood himself continues to release music and tour to this day.

Ritual de lo Habitual by #JanesAddiction (1990)

A genre-bending album that yanks you into itself w Stop! & keeps the jams coming. While it v much creates its own sound you can hear (esp in the back half) that it looks up to its grandparents, Robert Plant & Jimmy Page.

My CD collection in my damp Vancouver basement bedroom. On the shelf to the right you can see The Aeroplane Flies High box set from Smashing Pumpkins. Posters include Helmet, Bush (back when they were BushX in Canada), Tool, Silverchair, Nirvana, and one more above the Bush poster that I can't figure out. Me in 1997 when I lived for nothing but music and dying my hair with Punky Colour hair dye from Cheap Thrills on Granville St. There was a guy named Toby who worked there and I thought he was the cutest thing ever.

The Tortured Poets Department by #TaylorSwift (Pt. 2)

Disc 2, The Anthology, is made up of about 75% sleeper tracks that layer like the crumb of a French bakery croissant. With time, individual personalities emerge, revealing some of her best work.

Just received my 13th cd in the mail from a local 🍁 seller. Still waiting for my cd player.

Returning to physical media feels like a means of unearthing slowness in an unsettling time driven by continuously skipping to the next moment.
