The bears rely heavily on large old-growth trees, hollow logs and stumps. Decades of logging have removed many of those shelters🌿�

On this day in 1985, Haida Nation members begin blockading logging on Lyell Island by Western Forest Products. The successful campaign lasted 3 months and saw 72 Haida citizens including elders arrested by the RCMP and charged with Contempt of Court.

I want to gush about this commission. This is a prime example of how I characterize Fenneko and Haida. Haida, still a dork & gushing about music, to Fenneko, who despite being semi-attentive, is a master of Haida-logy & offers a "different tune they can both dance to". She enjoys making him happy 🙏
