An Israeli air strike on Saturday killed Brigadier-General Abdel-Nasser Al-Maqadma, the head of the Hamas-led police force in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Hamas-run authorities. The strike also killed a Palestinian medic in the Nuseirat refugee camp and a police officer wounded in an earlier strike. Two additional casualties were reported in Khan Younis, raising the death toll from Saturday’s attacks to at least four. The Israeli military has not commented on the incidents. This follows months of Israeli military operations targeting Hamas-led security forces, with accusations that many officers are affiliated with Hamas’ armed wing. Hamas claims these attacks aim to destabilize Gaza and violate the October ceasefire agreement. International mediators have struggled to advance peace talks, despite calls for Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawals.
