A lone Hawthorn tree just about to come into flower at Hammershus castle on the Danish island of Bornholm is my offering for #ThickTrunkTuesday this week. Spring is about 2-3 weeks behind ours in northern Poland.

Vi må endelig ikke glemme Bornholm og en af de absolut største borge fra middelalderen. Hammershus blev grundlagt i starten af 1200-tallet og udvidet over flere hundrede år. Borgen udholdt en belejring på 16 måneder inden forsvaret måtte give op.

Restaurierter Eingang zur Burg Hammershus auf Bornholm
eine alte Natursteinmauer, darin ein rot gemauerter Durchgang und eine Person, die sich bückt, um hindurchzupassen. Im Vordergrund Gras und ein lehmiger Trampelpfad, rechts ein Baum, die Zweige sind teilweise vor der Mauer zu sehen. Heller, bedeckter Himmel.
